Mission Team

Kathy Gaulton - Founder & CEO

Kathy Gaulton , Founder and CEO of Heavenly Treasures, is married to Gary Gaulton, superintendent of the Pacific Coast Japanese Free Methodist Conference; Gary and Kathy have been married for 41 years and have three children and two grandchildren.

Every family member is serving in full time ministry. Caroline, Heavenly Treasures Director of Retail Merchandising, is married to Philip Sakanashi, Youth Pastor and APU Seminary student; they have two children Kara and Kai. Christina serves as the Heavenly Treasures Chief Operations Officer; she is responsible for all retail operations and development projects in 17 countries. Christina was an integral part of the founding and establishment of Heavenly Treasures retail store.  David, Worship Leader and Songwriter is married to Leah Gaulton, they serve as “Musicianaries,” leading worship nationally and internationally. David also serves as the Heavenly Treasures Ministry Artist.

Kathy was born and raised in Southern California. She attended Cal State Fullerton and Chapman College, World Campus Afloat. During the semester at sea, Kathy met Gary Gaulton and was married the following year. Finding a passion for retail merchandising, she enjoy a career in family entertainment businesses, including Six Flags parks and attractions, Knott’s Berry Farm and luxury goods retailer, Duty Free Shoppers.

A life changing process began in 1996 after serving on a short-term team in Tanzania. God opened her eyes to the poverty and oppression millions of people live in every day. Kathy felt God calling her to use her gifts and abilities to help the poor. This calling led to a plan to transition the entire Gaulton family into full time ministry. This vision was based on how people need a sustainable livelihood in order to be able to know the fullness of a relationship with Jesus Christ. During that time, Kathy founded Heavenly Treasures in 1998 while working full time. Partnerships with Free Methodist World Missions in Asia, Empowering Lives International and other organizations started. Kathy had difficulty sharing the vision of how people could be helped; the idea of microenterprise development was not understood. She coined the phrase “every product represents a changed life!” This was the beginning of understanding. Business as mission was born in the garage of the Gaulton home.

In early 2001, Kathy left Corporate America to serve as a full-time “career” missionary. Christina joined Heavenly Treasures after graduating from Cal State Fullerton, helping to establish the retail operations that have now expanded to e-commerce, gift fairs, wholesale, fashion shows, and most recently partnering with World Vision USA and Canada. Kathy, along with all Heavenly Treasures Staff, is affiliated with the Free Methodist denomination as US Missionaries.

Kathy's vision for a Livelihood Project ministry has matured and developed since 1996. It now includes 1,000+ artisans, 50 projects in 17 countries. Heavenly Treasures is a member of the Fair Trade Federation. One of the key values of Heavenly Treasures is that all proceeds from the sale of the products are reinvested into new orders, giving an ongoing source of income, leading to self-sustaining projects and healthy families. It is so exciting to hear the stories of how lives are being changed, even entire communities. Heavenly Treasures is committed to not only helping people economically but also spiritually. God has worked in a mighty way as He guides and directs Kathy and Heavenly Treasures daily. The network is growing, lives are being changed, we are thankful.
