I have discovered that I kind of have a split personality when it comes
to change. I like it when the church changes and grows. I enjoy when
my career takes different paths. I like it when organizations take
risks and try different technologies. I love to hear stories of new
discoveries. But personally, I am not too adventurous. My clothes
combination are the same. I watch the same tv shows. I order the same
food at restaurants. I really hate it when I go to a restaurant and
try something new and the food is lousy. The worst part is when the
bill comes and you have to pay for the food that you did not really
like. Which means, the meal that you really like, you could have had
if you would have just stuck with what you have always ordered. So, I
always order the same things. Wear the same clothes. And watch the
same tv shows. Because I know, in the end, they do not disappoint.
They give me what I want.
My guess is that a lot of you are like me. We like the idea of
change, but it can be really scary and risky. Sometimes change works
out, sometimes it doesn't. Many times our relationship with God is
like that. When our relationship is dry,and not very exciting, we will
sometimes move away from what we know, and experiment with other
options. As a result, you might get totally engrossed in your career.
Thats all you live for and your motivation is to move up as high as you
can in your organization. It might be that all you live for is
sports. Either playing or watching. It could be that your life's goal
is to accumulate all that you can materially. Or maybe, you are into
relationships that are just not good, but you continue in them
anyways. My guess is that in the end, none of those things will bring
you true contentment in your life or will bring any kind of healing.
Then on the other hand, we have a God who never changes. And no
matter what our life circumstances or barriers or hurts and pains, we
can always go back to a faithful God who changes not. We always know
we have a God of mercy and compassion who is waiting for us to return
to Him. We have a Saviour who is willing to forgive us. We have a
physician waiting to heal us. We have a God that will never disappoint
us. So if things are not working out for you, go back to what you
know. Go back to a God who is just as loving, and compassionate, and
understanding, and forgiving as He has always been and will continue to
be.
Here are a few more pictures for you. Recently, the Kenyan
government has smoothed out the dirt roads that lead to the
distribution kiosk, which has increased the access to the kiosk. This
allows for vehicles and carts to come in, which has raised our
distribution tremendously. The picture of the truck, I think, is from
one of the local schools that we provide water for.
